“Progressive Oscar” Nominations Announced
A group of leftwing film critics and historians has announced its own nominations for the best movie of the year, along with best actor and best actress.
The group, the James Agee Cinema Circle, nominated the following films for best progressive picture: Made In Dagenham; The King’s Speech; The Social Network; Even The Rain; Casino Jack; and Route Irish.
For best actor in a progressive film, the group nominated: Kevin Spacey - Casino Jack; Edgar Ramirez – Carlos; Mark Wahlberg -- The Fighter; Geoffrey Rush – The King’s Speech; James Franco, Howl.
For best actress, it nominated: Sally Hawkins -- Made In Dagenham; Naomi Watts -- Fair Game.
For best documentary, it nominated: Inside Job; Client 9; South of the Border; William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe.
For lifetime achievement award, it nominated: Mike Leigh; Jean-Luc Godard; Sean Penn; George Clooney.
