It’s not like Boehner had to beat Obama into the ground on this. The President, it seems, was always prepared to give it away.

As if cutting benefits to the elderly and the poor and the disabled is somehow noble!

His continued willingness to slice into the New Deal and Great Society programs, despite some rhetoric to the contrary, indicates that he remains rudderless and easy to roll.
We didn’t need a Democratic President to go after Social Security. But we sure got one.
Obama campaigned on preserving Social Security and accused McCain of wanting to cut it. Now, by preparing an assault on Social Security, he is engaging in a huge betrayal.
He had no good defense for why he was not nationalizing the banks. And he threatened your Social Security benefits.
