Protests in Copenhagen Heat Up

By Elizabeth DiNovella, December 16, 2009

I'm inspired by the grassroots activism happening at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. Police have arrested more than 1000 people so far.

Here's what my friend and colleague, Molly Stentz of WORT-FM, reported today on her blog from Copenhagen:

We know the drill by now. Head honchos arrive tomorrow. Checklist for today:

  • Polish up the Bella Center (vaccum, mop, install more metal detectors)
  • Remove untidy protest contingent
  • Move in on the groups that police have been surveilling and detain their organizers
  • Seize any likely protest equipment
  • Arrest & detain now, deal with consequences later

One of the best sources of info is Indymedia Denmark.

For updates from the grassroots, visit Via Campesina, 350.org, and, of course, Democracy Now.

The Yes Men are once again up to their shenanigans.

This is all so hilarious to me.

The Global "Fat Cats" get together in Copenhagen, desperate to establish a Global Tax on Carbon, payable to themselves.

When certain problems arise, with the conning of some nations into this system, our activist friends protest against the "Fat Cats" for not taxing them soon enough, nor high enough.

All as the Environmental Organizations, these Activists represent, are being funded by the same "Fat Cats".

Then, of course, the "Fat Cats" have the Activists arrested, to try and emphasize, to the masses, how much the World is now ready to be enslaved.

They can't wait, in fact.

Oh well -- who said Religion has to be Rational?
