Tom Harkin Latest Victim of McCarthyism
The Republicans have gone way beyond the Palin with their McCarthyite tactics, and the latest person to be smeared is Iowa’s longtime Democratic Senator, Tom Harkin.
His Republican opponent, Christopher Reed, called him “the Tokyo Rose of Al Qaeda and Middle East terrorism.”
Those remarks came in a forum on October 30 broadcast on Iowa public TV and sponsored by the Des Moines Register, the paper reported.
Reed also said that Harkin was “anti-American” and was “providing aid and comfort to the enemy,” which is the constitutional definition of treason, a crime punishable by death.
Harkin said the comments were out of line and predicted: “It’s going to hurt him,” he told the paper.
At the taping, Harkin was heard to say, directly to Reed: “You’re a nice young man, and I thought you had a political future ahead of you. But that just ended your political career right there.”

Thank You! Finally Intelligence on the net.
I agree with all your remakes, and wish everyone would take note.
I wish to offer an additional Political system that is currently "afoot" today, in our political system, hopefully without sounding too emotionally opinionated or being labeled right-wing or left-wing nut case, as is the case whenever I suggest the word (Fascism).
I used to rail against both political parties, individual politicians and the Presidents, until realizing, as in many of your remarks, "That the President and Political Parties are not in control nor have the power to direct change today".
I wish to offer an answer to the dilemma and confusion we face in our political system today, stems perhaps, from a old form, or new form of Fascism, or Neo-Fascism, that is working in the back ground or under the radar so to speak, aided by the media to keep the masses unaware, and dumbfounded, that Fascism is Afoot today, in America, and is being directed by rich powerful corporations, who dictate as in most cases, to force our government to ignore the peoples wishes, due to the fear government has of the financial power that corporatist us to control our government.
Corporations are holding hostage our government, and dictating to government officials as dictators would, not from one corporation but many corporations.
Corporations are ultimately covering up their actions in the (fog of war) that political discourse affords. subverting our political process. Emotional issues are easy weapons to deploy and aid corporations in gaining the control and upper-hand over people and government whilst the people and government fight each other, instead of fighting the real target: The Growing Fascist Corporate control in America.
When People are blaming their government and politicians for the problems in; Healthcare, Supreme Court Treason, Blackwater, (contractors gone wild), TSA, Airport security, NSA & Goggle, Global Warming, etc...
They, we are missing the real target of who is pulling the strings of our democracy, but this is the corporate goal to keep the people and government fighting each other, so we will not fight Corporations who are the growing real problems behind all the issues; Corporate Neo-Fascism in America.
As I write this, it may seem, and sound nutty to even consider this possible, as to what is going on today, but consider this we must. Corporations Pitt us against our government and each other, to control us both!
Maybe this is a new form of Hybrid Fascism were government isn't in-collusion with corporations, but is runs the government, to their whim and dictatorships of Corporations.
Thus controlling the Government and the People.
We must stop fighting each other with Emotional Opinions and educate ourselves to detect what is truly happening to us and who we are really fighting against.
